We are fortunate to have many partners and a significant number of meaningful resources that provide diverse informational resources and solid support for our efforts to improve safety on New Hampshire’s roadways.
Center For Disease Control (CDC)
One of these resources is the Center for Disease Control. The amount of information available through this resource is extensive on traffic safety and other health related issues of importance to all of us.
For example, CDC has a web tool that allows information to be entered that allows each state to prioritize safety initiatives. This resource is referred to as MV PICCS or Motor Vehicle Prioritizing Interventions and Cost Calculator for states. According to CDC “this tool, which now includes 2015 state data and a graphical interface, can help state decision makers prioritize and select from a suite of 14 effective motor vehicle injury prevention interventions. MV PICCS 3.0 calculates the expected number and monetized value of injuries prevented, lives saved, and the costs of implementation, while taking into account available resources. The updated tool includes easy access to intervention fact sheets and a completely new user-friendly interface. Another new feature is the ability to save or print shareable reports with MV PICCS results.
